Prague - perfect city for romantic weekend for two in Czech Republic
Romantic, medieval, spiritual, and yet modern ... one day is definitely not enough the get to know the capital of Czechia. Use our inspirations, visit there for a weekend and let yourself get carried away by the city and the surrounding areas.
Sunrise is the best time for a walk over the Charles Bridge, as it also ensures a more intimate atmosphere. There, you can see the statue of Saint Anne, the patron of pregnant women, happy wedding and marriage. You must see the Old Town attracts with the romantic nature of the narrow streets. There, you can find the most prominent historical monuments such as the Old Town City Hall with Orloj astronomical clock or the oldest Opera theatre in Prague.
The dormitory of Libuse princess lies further away from the Old Town - Prague exists because of her. This area, the legendary Visegrad, is the home of “Libuse's Bathhouse” - a hill where she would take baths with her lovers. Once she got bored with one, she would push him straight into the Vltava. When visiting Visegrad, remember to see the viewing terraces on the old bastions. They provide a great view of the Vltava.
Since the XI century, Prague was an important center of the Eastern European Jewish community and its religious and social life. This is why you should mandatorily visit the Old Jewish Town Josefov, where you can follow in the footsteps of Franz Kafka and famous Jewish rabbis on the streets of the old Jewish ghetto. The wonderful old synagogues (Maisel Synagogue, Pinkas Synagogue, or the oldest and most beautiful Old-New Synagogue), the Jewish cemetery, and the former ceremonial hall building are responsible for the atmosphere of this part of the city.
Top tourist attraction is a boat trip on the Vltava River from Rasina Boulevard to Trotsky Castle, the estate of one of the greatest Czech aristocratic families – the Sternbergs. There, you can visit the wonderful garden, the impressive palace halls, the St. Claire's Vineyard, and the botanical garden or the popular Prague Zoo which lie just near the castle.
Plenty of foodies also head to Prague to enjoy the excellent Czech beer on offer in most restaurants and bars. Pay a visit to one of the so-called brew houses, spacious and often multi-storey restaurants which offer their own beer brewed in brass vats. Be sure to order a spicy stew, pork knuckle or vinegar-marinated sausages (“utopenci,” literally “drawning victims”) to go together with your beer. A popular Czech dish is a sirloin on cream (“svickova na smetane”), i.e. a slice of delicious beef with dumplings, topped with a vegetable and cream sauce. Delicious!

Krumlov
Only a 2-hour drive from Prague, the town is undoubtedly the most picturesque in the Czech Republic. The streets of the Latrán district beg for a stroll - this area surrounds the castle, and it is filled with of cafés and restaurants. An intact city center, richly decorated tenement houses, and cobblestone streets - doesn't it sound romantic?
Krumlov is an example of a perfectly preserved medieval town in Central Europe. Albeit it may seem small, it is known for being the best-preserved Baroque theatre in the world! The palace and castle complex, together with the entire historical center of the town, are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The greatest attraction of the castle is the theatre with a revolving auditorium with the original building of the theatre, an orchestra, a stage, and hundreds of theatre costumes with scene accessories. The entire area looks like something straight out of a fairytale. Castle gardens where you can take a walk lie just adjacent to the castle. Krumlov’s main attraction is the castle, but you can also visit the museum of wax figures, the alchemist’s workshop, or the old graphite mines. You are certainly not going to get bored.
